DIEP Flap Breast Reconstruction by Dr. Jay Shenaq in Sugar Land, TX

Initially, this patient underwent bilateral DIEP flap reconstruction with Dr. Jay Shenaq. In very rare cases a flap may not survive due to lack of blood circulation. This was the case for this patient's right breast flap. After taking the patient back for surgery to remove the right breast flap, a tissue expander was placed to prepare the right breast pocket for a future silicone breast implant. Six months post-op the patient then had her exchange to silicone implant with revision of the left breast for symmetry. To camouflage any areas with a lack of volume, fat was transferred to her bilateral breasts and provided additional symmetry for the patient. The patient is loving her results of having breast reconstruction with Dr. Jay Shenaq.
